The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and the National Iranian Gas Company have started negotiations on the joint supply of gas to world markets, Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company Alireza Cameli reported.
"Tehran and Baku held talks on joint investments in gas export projects. At the same time, Iran plans to increase gas production in the next three years," TASS quotes him as saying.
In this regard, the Iranian news agency ISNA writes, "it could mean that Tehran has already returned to the plans to export gas to Europe through the pipeline." It also recalls that its vast reserves of natural gas allowed Iran to be a major exporter of gas to Europe long ago.
