Baku hosts 36th session of ISESCO Executive Council

The 36th session of the ISESCO Executive Council (Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) has started in Baku. Representatives of international organizations, ministers of culture and education from various countries, as well as diplomats are attending the event.

The organization's activities, financial and other issues will be discussed during the meeting.

Azerbaijan will host the 12th General Conference of ISESCO on November 23-27. The General Conference meets in a regular session once every three years. It will determine ISESCO’s strategy of activity, coordination and assessment on issues related to the organization’s activity spheres, the Action Plan and budget for the next three years.

Azerbaijan became an ISESCO member in 1991, Trend reports.

The country’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Abulfas Garayev, noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to developing cooperation with ISESCO. He recalled that Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva is the goodwill ambassador of ISESCO. According to the head of the department, this is a bright example of high-level cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization.

Garayev also expressed gratitude of Azerbaijan for ISESCO’s support to the country’s fair position in the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
