The 5th Congress of the Russian Community of Azerbaijan was held in Baku. More than 250 delegates from all regions of the country representing the 120,000th Russian diaspora of the republic participated in the event.
According to the head of the community and deputy of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, Mikhail Zabelin, the organization of compatriots that celebrated its 25th-anniversary last year, ” over the past years, has shared the country's concerns and acted in the interests of strengthening international peace." He emphasized that Russian citizens of Azerbaijan enjoy equal rights with the indigenous population. There are about 340 Russian schools in the country.
