Baku invites Russian Sports Minister to CIS Games in Ganja

The Russian Sports Minister and head of the Russian Olympic Committee, Mikhail Degtyarev, said Azerbaijani Youth and Sports Minister Farid Gayibov has invited him to the CIS Games.

The Russian minister is expected to visit Azerbaijan at the end of September, as Degtyarev announced at the Eastern Economic Forum.

The sporting event is scheduled to begin on September 28th and run through October 8th. The opening and closing ceremonies will be held in Ganja.

Degtyarev confirmed that Russian representatives will definitely attend.

"International formats are developing on a bilateral level. Our delegation is preparing to travel to Baku, Azerbaijan, for the CIS Games. Azerbaijan's Sports Minister, Mr. Gayibov, has personally invited me. I will make a separate decision regarding my own visit," Mikhail Degtyarev said.

Over 260 athletes from Russia are set to participate in the Games.
