Baku is more livable than Istanbul and Tehran

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) organization has published a rating of the word's cities for their suitability for life – the Global Liveability Ranking 2015, which includes an assessment of 140 cities, noting that the rating reflects the significant increase in global instability in the past 12 months.

According to the EIU rating, Baku, with 62.3 out of 100 possible points, was 103th most livable city in the world. In the stability and security, Baku scored 65 points, the level of healthcare was 66.7 points, culture and environment – 60.6 points, education – 75 points, infrastructure – 50 points. At the same time, the capital of Azerbaijan surpassed such cities as Istanbul (113th place, 57.8 points), Tehran (130th place, 47.2 points) and Kiev (132nd, 43.4 points). In the region of the former USSR, Baku was surpassed by such megapolises as the Russian city of St. Petersburg (77th place with 74.1 points) and Moscow (81st with 72.8), and the former Kazakh capital Alma-Ata (100th place with 65.3 points).

The world's top three most livable cities are Melbourne (97.5 points), Vienna (97.4 points) and Vancouver (97.3 points), Damascus closes the rating (29.3 points).
