 Baku says goodbye to heroes

Baku is saying goodbye to Azerbaijani pilots of the Mi-24 helicopter, which was shot down on April 2 in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.

The ceremony is taking place at the Training Center of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

Hundreds of people came to lay Major Tabriz Musazade, Major Urfan Velizade and Senior Lieutenant Baqir Ismailov to rest, haqqin.az reports.

"Urfan was my classmate. We could celebrate 10 years of our married life in June," the wife of deceased Major Konul Velizade said.

The youngest son of Tabriz Musazade, Onur, admitted that he is proud of his father. "He's my hero. I'll be worthy to be called his son," he said.
Bakir Ismailov's  wife also said that she is proud of her husband.

Recall, as Vestnik Kavkaza reported, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has facilitated the handover of the bodies of those killed in action following the recent escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Recall, on the night of April 2 all frontier positions of Azerbaijan were exposed to heavy fire from large-caliber weapons, mortars, grenade launchers and guns. In addition, Azerbaijani settlements near the front line, densely populated by civilians, were shelled.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20% of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
