Baku simplifies customs procedures through Middle Corridor

Azerbaijan considers simplification of customs procedures for the transit flow within the Middle Corridor.

First Deputy Head of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Ismail Huseynov, speaking at the conference "Presentation of Digital Management Platform and New Economic Initiatives", revealed Baku's plans to simplify customs procedures for transit flow through the Middle Corridor.

He noted that in March of this year a conference will be held in Azerbaijan, at which the simplification of transit procedures for transportation along the Corridor will be discussed. It will be attended by the chairmen of the customs services of the countries located along the Trans-Caspian international transport route.

Huseynov stressed that the department is now dealing with issues that make it possible to simplify transit procedures amid the growth of the potential and attractiveness of Azerbaijan as a transit country.

In addition, the deputy head of the State Customs Committee added that along the Middle Corridor and the North-South Corridor, the authorities will increase the number of logistics centers and customs warehouses. He clarified that today, the department is working together with the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.

Vestnik Kavkaza reported earlier on the increase in the transit of goods through Azerbaijan in January 2023 by 57%.
