Barbershops and beauty salons open in Azerbaijan

The current sanitary-epidemiological situation in Azerbaijan due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the preventive measures taken in other countries and the recommendations of the World Health Organization have been analyzed and the decision has been made to extend the special quarantine regime until May 31, the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers said.

At the same time, taking into consideration the rate of the infection and the recovery dynamics among patients, a number of restrictions have been eased.

Therefore, starting from May 4, the activities of barbershops, beauty salons and cosmetic services were restored.

Since April 27, almost all stores opened in Azerbaijan, except for those located in shopping centers.

The measures on social isolation have been applied in the country from 00:00 (GMT+4) on March 14, 2020.

On April 5, Azerbaijan tightened the quarantine regime imposed on March 24, in order to stop the further spread of the virus. The new restrictions stipulate that residents must give advance notice before leaving their place of residence via a free SMS message. People are allowed to leave their homes for three reasons or “indexes”: to visit the doctor (index one), to visit a pharmacy, shop, bank, or post office (index 2), or to attend the funeral of a relative (index 3).

Up to now, 1 932 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in Azerbaijan. Some 1,411 of them have recovered, and 25 people have died. Presently, 466 people are being treated in hospitals.
