The German government condemns any manifestations of Russophobia over the situation in Ukraine, Christiane Hoffmann, a federal government spokeswoman said at a news conference on Monday.
"This isn’t a war of Russian people against Ukraine and not of Russian-speaking people in Germany," she said. "The German government condemns any manifestation of Russophobia."
There’s a wave of disrupted ties with Russian institutions and firms in Germany amid the events in Ukraine. Users of social networks report cases of aggression against Russians and about drawing insulting inscriptions on Russian institutions. The situation is exacerbated by the fact that the flow of refugees from Ukraine is steadily growing. Earlier, the Russian Embassy in Berlin reported that it was receiving hundreds of reports from Russian nationals about harassment and violation of their rights. Some Soviet memorials have been vandalized.
