The final game of the UEFA Super Cup is due to start in a few minutes. The two best club teams in Europe according to the last season – the owner of the main club trophy of the continent, Barcelona FC and the winner of the Europa League, Seville FC, are to play at the Boris Paichadze stadium.
The duel of these Spanish teams has caused great excitement in Georgia. 22 thousand tickets were sold out in a few hours, and the remaining 32 thousand were distributed among the fans of the participants of the match, as well as various representatives of UEFA and the Football Federation of Georgia.
A meeting of Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and UEFA President Michel Platini took place in Tbilisi the other day. As noted in the conversation, the head of the Georgian government was proud that owing to the modernized sporting and tourist infrastructure, as well as hospitality, Georgia is becoming increasingly attractive for large-scale sporting events.
The head of UEFA thanked the Prime Minister of Georgia for his efforts in organizing the game for the Super Cup.
In an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza a member the Expert Club of Georgia, Vakhtang Maisaya, noted that it is a long-awaited event for the citizens of the republic. ‘‘Everybody in Georgia is looking forward to the beginning of the match with great impatience.
A lot of fans from all over the world have arrived in Tbilisi in order to see his important sporting and political event for Georgia. Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili personally met with the head of UEFA, Michel Platini,’’ the expert says.
