Azerbaijan is an important strategic partner for Bulgaria in the field of gas supplies, European Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said on Thursday following a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"The strategic partnership between Bulgaria and Azerbaijan continues to develop actively with an emphasis on expanding relations in the energy and transport sectors", he said, according to the Bulgarian National Radio.
According to Petkov, Bulgaria considers "Azerbaijan as an important partner in diversifying natural gas supplies and improving the energy security of Eastern and South-Eastern Europe".
