Today the mayor of Buynaksk, Huseyin Gamzatov, put in an application to resign. Elections to the position are due to take place soon.
Hussein Gamzatov Buynaksk was mayor from 2004 up to 2015. In September he was re-elected to this position. But soon Gamzatov received a medical certificate of unfitness for work and his duties were temporarily performed by the Minister of Health of Dagestan, Ilyas Mamaev, who was later replaced by the former head of Customs of Dagestan, Zachary Amirov, FederalPress reports.
