COVID-19: 9 regions of Kazakhstan in ‘red zone’

9 regions in Kazakhstan are in the ‘red zone’, the highest in a three-tier system used in Kazakhstan in terms of spread of the coronavirus infection, Kazinform reports.

As of May 3, the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan, Almaty, and Shymkent cities as well as Akmola, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kyzylorda, and Pavlodar regions remain in the ‘red’ zone. Akmaty, Atyrau, Aktobe, East Kazakhstan, and Mangistau are in the ‘yellow zone’, the second highest in the three-tier system used in the country.

The rest of the regions – Turkestan, Kostanay, and North Kazakhstan, remain in the ‘green zone’.
