The COVID-19 pandemic is not over in Russia, and its regions still remain high-risk areas, the country’s chief sanitary doctor said.
"It’s quite obvious that the pandemic is not over yet, and all Russian constituent members are still classified as high-risk areas," Anna Popova, head of the Russian consumer rights watchdog, said at a meeting in Sochi to discuss the opening of the summer travel season in the Krasnodar Region.
On average, 7,000 to 8,000 people test positive for COVID-19 in Russia daily, she added.
Since the onset of the pandemic, 18,167,281 coronavirus cases and 375,566 fatalities have been registered across Russia, according to the nation’s federal coronavirus crisis command center. The government set up an Internet hotline to keep the public updated on the latest coronovirus developments.
