A friendly match between Canada and Iran in June was canceled by the Canadian football body on Thursday.
"Canada Soccer has cancelled the international match that was scheduled for 5 June 2022 against Iran as part of the Men’s National Team preparations for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022," the Canadian football association said on Twitter.
Canada Soccer did not give any reason for the cancelation. "Additional details will be provided to all ticket purchasers," it added.
The game was scheduled to be held at Vancouver's BC Place Stadium. Canada and Iran are among the 32 participating teams at the 2022 World Cup, but they are in different groups.
