Caspian flotilla conducts exercises with missile and artillery firing

Russia’s missile ships ‘Tatarstan’ and ‘Dagestan’ and small missile ships ‘Grad Svijazhsk’ and ‘Great Ustyug’ are to conduct exercises with missile and artillery firing in the south-western part of the Caspian Sea from 15 to 20 August, abc.az reports.

Russian Defense Ministry’s press service reports that this tactical exercise will enable to check the capabilities of the forces of the Caspian flotilla to the actions in the resolution of crisis situations threatening the military security of the country, including those of terrorist nature.

In particular, within the exercises it is planned to carry out range practice under conditions close to the fighting, reflection of air attack of imaginary enemy and development of protection against saboteurs.

Almost all ships involved in the exercise participated in the strikes on militants of Daesh in Syria in the fall of 2015.
