A group of masked men attacked the house of the former chairman of Armenia's Cassation Court, Arman Mkrtumyan, the Armenian Investigative Committee's spokesperson Sona Truzyan said.
One of the three masked men, who attacked Mkrtumyan's house, was wounded and later detained by police, Armenia’s police reported.
Mkrtumyan's house is located in the village of Dzoraghbyur on the outskirts of Yerevan.
The police said they learned about the attack from Mkrtumyan’s son Gor who called to police station at 11 pm on August 28. The attack, according to the son, occurred an hour earlier when the men armed with assault rifles broke into their property opening irregular fire, ARKA reported.
Gor and his father showed resistance. Gor had to use his officially registered gas pistol neutralizing one of the attackers, armed with assault rifle. The other two took to flight.
The wounded attacker detained by police is a resident of the city of Gyumri. The police said they found 16 cartridges, an AKM assault rifle, a sports bag with adhesive tape and scrap. Police said they are looking now for the other two members of the group.
Armenia’s Investigative Committee launched a criminal case under two Criminal Code articles (robbery committed by a group of persons with unlawful entry into a dwelling, storage; and illegal acquisition, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of firearms, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices).
