Celik: Turkey not to give any credit to U.S. S-400 'disrespectful' act

Commenting on the row with the United States over Turkey's decision to purchase Russia's S-400 missile defense system, Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) Ömer Çelik said that demanding that Ankara give up a “done deal” is disrespecting the country's sovereign rights.

“Asking Turkey to withdraw from an agreement that is already completed is disrespectful to Turkey's sovereignty,” Anadolu Agency cited Çelik as saying.

According to the spokesman, Ankara will not give any credit to this “disrespectful” act.

Yesterday, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence warned Turkey against buying S-400, keeping up pressure on the NATO ally to abandon a purchase that Washington views as a threat to U.S. military equipment.
