Children's Day celebrated around the world

Today, on June 1, the International Children's Day is celebrated worldwide, it is a holiday of peace, hope, kindness and joy, dedicated to childhood. 

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent congratulations to participants and guests of the events dedicated to International Children’s Day.

“I would like to emphasise that children’s education and strong family values are a priority of the state and society in our country. It is important for every child to be surrounded by loving care, to grow up healthy and happy, and to develop their talents and gifts,” the statement reads.

Azerbaijan's First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva has shared a post on her social media page on the occasion of the International Children's Day.

"I wholeheartedly congratulate our little compatriots on the occasion of June 1 - International Children's Day! I wish each child robust health and happiness! May your hearts always be filled with joy and may smiles always grace your faces! May Almighty God protect you!" she said.

In 1949, 1 June was established as the International Day for Protection of Children by the Women's International Democratic Federation in Moscow. Since 1950, 1 June is celebrated as Children's Day in many countries.
