Chinese government respects choice made by the Syrian people for President Bashar Assad, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said.
"We respect the choice made by the Syrian people. We believe that the Syrian people must determine their destiny," Hua Chunying stressed at a briefing, urging all parties in Syria to try to find a political settlement in the war.
