China's coronavirus poses no threat to Turkey

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said that the coronavirus originating in China is not of any particular risk to Turkey.

He said that Turkish authorities will quarantine infected patients from China should they arrive in Turkey.

"We have in particular quarantine rooms and inspection centers at the airport. Our team at the airports follow closely all the passengers coming from China especially those who have difficulty in coughing, breathing," Anadolu Agency cited him as saying.

On December 31, Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization about an outbreak of an unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan. Coronavirus 2019-nCoV can be transmitted people-to-people.

The virus which causes pneumonia-like symptoms has jostled health authorities in China and other regions amid fears of a possible outbreak. Beyond China, the virus has affected people in Taiwan, Japan and South Korea. So far, the National Health Commission reported 440 cases and nine deaths.
