While the level of connectivity is constantly expanding, Azerbaijan and China have accomplished tremendous successes in implementing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) project, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Azerbaijan Ding Tao said.
According to Ding Tao, the joint efforts of both sides have contributed to expanding the capacity of the southern China-EU correlation channel, increasing transportation efficiency, and improving the quality of services.
He reminded that on July 3, the China-EU trans-sea express line from China through Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan was officially up and running.
"This is the first time that Chinese vehicles arrive at coastal ports by direct road transport, then cross the sea on national ships, and finally reach Europe," Ding Tao said.
The Charge d'Affaires noted that Azerbaijan continues to be a reliable partner for China, adding that China and Azerbaijan are genuine friends and strong partners.
"Over the past 32 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, our two countries have enjoyed healthy and stable development despite changes in the international arena," Ding Tao said.
According to the Charge d'Affaires, the joint statement issued reflects both sides' firm support for their core interests, recognition of each other's policies and concepts, and pursuit of high-quality pragmatic cooperation.
"Raising the level of relations in Central Asia has been an important step in the history of our bilateral relations, bringing more stability and positive energy to maintaining peace and development in the world," Ding Tao said.
He noted that Azerbaijan is an important partner of the SCO, playing an increasingly pivotal role in regional economic cooperation.
The diplomat added that trade turnover between Azerbaijan and China shot up by 43.5% to a whopping $3.1 billion by the end of last year.
