China to build nuclear power plants in Iran

China will build two nuclear power plants on the Makran coast in Iran’s south, the head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Ali Akbar Salehi, said.

“We will simultaneously launch construction of four new nuclear power plants in the country in the next two-three years. We plan to engage more than 20,000 workers and engineers in such large-scale construction,” he added.

According to Salehi, Iran currently stores around 90 tons of heavy water. "We have already produced sufficient amount of that material," ISNA news agency cited him as saying.

Salehi said Iran currently stores around 7-8 tons of uranium. "In accordance with the Joint Action Plan, the future of stored uranium will be decided in the next 4-5 months," TASS cited him as saying.
