China to build third nuclear plant in Turkey

Turkey will cooperate with China to build a third nuclear power plant in the Thrace region northwest of Istanbul, Turkish Energy Minister Fatih Donmez said.

Turkish President Tayyip Recep Erdogan announced the project for the third nuclear power plant last week, saying Turkey would also hold tenders for $4.8 billion of investment in 3,000 MW solar power stations, Reuters reported.

Akkuyu NPP, Turkey's first nuclear power plant is being built in Mersin. The country's second nuclear power plant will be built in Sinop in northern Turkey.
