Chinese Projects Move to Kazakhstan

China plans to move a part of its production facilities in the amount of more than $26.2 billion to Kazakhstan, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said today in an interview with Chinese media. "The governments of our countries negotiated a transfer program in order to move production capacity from China to Kazakhstan," he said.

"At this moment the list includes 51 projects in the chemical industry, mining and metallurgical sector, machine-building, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, light industry, oil refining, production of building materials and information technologies," Nazarbayev said, adding that two of them have already been launched. They are the production of polypropylene powder and cars, Tass reports.

In addition, Kazakhstan is developing cooperation with China in the field of transport. In particular, the first phase of "dry port" for transshipment cargo was opened on the Chinese-Kazakh border.

The cooperation with China will be beneficial for Kazakhstan, Director of the Center for East Asian and SCO MGIMO, Alexander Lukin told Vestnik Kavkaza.
"Delocalization means investments, i.e. China will invest in Kazakhstan. It is good for any country to develop production, train staff and create jobs. Enterprises pay taxes, which bring income to the budget," the expert added.
