A monument to famous Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov was opened in Moscow today.
The installation of the monument is timed to the writer's anniversary. He would have turned 90 years old on December 12.
The monument was created by sculptor Azamat Abdrakhmanov and architect Andrei Pavlov.
The ceremony was attended by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, Kyrgyz President Sooronbay Jeenbekov, Special Representative of the Russian President for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy, Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky and other cultural and government figures, Interfax reported.
