Coach of Russian national team: wrestling is traditional in Caucasus

Magomed Guseynov, the chief coach of the Russian national wrestling team, said in an interview with Vestnik Kavkaza that such high achievements of North Caucasus wrestlers stemmed from the fact that the sports was traditional in the Caucasus. In his words, 80% of Russian medal winners originate from the Caucasus.

Guseynov noted that the wrestlers' progress consolidated the country. Russia is represented by 7 Caucasians and a Yakut, according to the coach.
