A commemorative plaque was installed on a house of Kazakhstan’s famous figure skater Denis Ten, who was stabbed to death this summer, the press service of Almaty’s department of sports announced.
"The commemorative plaque was mounted on a house located on Nazarbayev Avenue, 46 in Almaty, where legendary figure skater Denis Ten was born and lived," the press service said.
The ceremony was attended by world’s famous figure skating Tatiana Tarasova, TASS reported.
Ten, the bronze medalist of the 2018 Sochi Olympics, died in a hospital in Almaty after he had been assaulted by two unidentified suspects and sustained a knife stab in mid-July.
According to Almaty’s police, he spotted two unknown suspects trying to dismount and steal side-mirrors of his car at about midday on July 19. As a result of the following brawl with the suspects, the 25-year-old figure skater was stabbed and taken to a hospital, where he died three hours later despite enormous efforts of the medical staff to save his life.
