Head of Research Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics of Maragheh said the city is to host 15th Frontiers of Fundamental Physics World Conference, IRNA reports.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 8th Advanced Astrophysics Workshop, Hossein Ebadi said that all countries have been notified about the conference.
Ebadi said the conference which is scheduled to be held on December 13-15 aims at expanding international cooperation.
He said that the conference is to be held in Iran for the first time; countries such as Australia, US, Germany and France have already hosted the conference.
The 8th Advanced Astrophysics Workshop started work on Sunday in Maragheh often called the astronomy capital of Iran.
Some 50 post-graduate students in astrophysics field participated in the workshop with the focus on cosmology and extrasolar planets.
