Confrontation with the United States is not among Russian Federation’s intentions, Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the Federation Council’s International Affairs Committee, told Rossiya 24 TV channel in an interview broadcast, TASS reports.
"The direct war between Russia and the United States is the most terrifying scenario which should be avoided by all possible means. A conflict with the United States is definitely not among Russian Federation’s plans," Kosachev said.
Russia firmly believes that its actions in Syria are right and that its "vision of how the world should be organized is also right," he added.
"We proposed to Americans, without infringing on their interests in any way, to take into account Russian (interests) as well," he concluded.
