Container express train launched between Poti and Baku

Azerbaijan Railways and Georgian Railways have launched the first express block train on the Poti-Baku route on January 30.

The ceremony for the departure of the first train took place in the Georgian port of Poti, according to Azerbaijan Railways.

"The block train, which will run on the Poti-Baku route, connects the Black Sea ports with the ports and terminals of Azerbaijan and simplify logistics, allowing cargo owners to receive containers from Poti to Baku and back within a set time without delays," Azerbaijan Railways said.

According to the company, cargo owners are able to save time and costs on storing goods and empty containers owing to the launch of the express train.
