The Russian garrison military court, which is subordinated to the North Caucasus District Military Court, a session of which was held today in Gyumri, has sentenced Valery Permyakov, who is accused of the murder of six Avetisyan family members living in this city in January of this year, to 10 years in a penal colony for desertion and theft of weapons.
The court found him guilty of "desertion with weapons", "theft of weapons and ammunition" and "illegal purchase, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons and ammunition."
During the process Valeriy Permyakov pleaded guilty to these offenses and repented his deeds, but refused to testify during the trial, and said that he had deserted from the military unit to get to Russia through Turkey.
Now he is awaiting trial for the murders, for which he will be tried in an Armenian court, RIA Novosti reported.
