Crimea extends yellow level of terrorist danger in seven areas

Crimea extended the yellow level of terrorist threat in seven areas of the region, the region’s Information Ministry said on Wednesday, citing the regional counterterrorism commission.

"The yellow level of terrorist danger has been extended in seven area of Crimea," the ministry said in a statement. "The situation in Crimea is calm at the moment. It’s completely under control of the government and law enforcement agencies."

Residents of the region were given a number of safety recommendations, including, if possible, to refrain from visiting places of mass gatherings of people, and when going outside to always carry identification documents and provide them for verification at the first request of law enforcement officers. When in shopping malls, railway stations, airports and similar places, people are advised to pay attention to the location of emergency exits and signs of escape routes in case of fire. The government will issue further notice when the yellow level of terrorist danger is cancelled.

The Crimean government introduced a high (yellow) level of terrorist threat from 20:00 on April 11 in the cities of Armyansk, Dzhankoy, Kerch, Krasnoperekopsk, and the Dzhankoysky, Krasnoperekopsky and Leninsky districts of the region. On April 26, it was extended until May 11.
