Customs on Georgia-Turkey border to be closed until August

The Vale customs checkpoint on the Georgian-Turkish border will remain closed until August because of protracted repairs.

According to the Georgian Finance Ministry, "Vale" has been closed since April 25 due to repairs at the "Türkgözü" checkpoint from Turkey. It was expected that the work would be completed at the end of May, but the deadline was postponed.

Drivers are advised to use the "Kartsakhi" checkpoint, which is working with a full load in a special mode now due to an increase in international cargo turnover.

The authorities of Georgia and Turkey have agreed on the unimpeded passage of an increased number of cargoes to Kartsakhi.
