Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said the government will pardon militants who lay down their weapons and surrender to authorities over the next three months.
“If they (terrorists) want to return to normal life and lay down arms, they will get amnesty. We have been doing this for years I think. Let alone the country’s win in the war,” the SANA news agency cited Assad as saying.
Asked whether he intends to issue a general amnesty if the government wins the ongoing foreign-sponsored war on Syria, Assad said, “It is not about my victory. The most important thing is the victory of the Syrian people because it is a war waged against the Syrian people.”
