Davutoglu's ex-aide detained on suspicion of having links to Gulen

Turkish authorities detained the ex-adviser of former Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Gurcan Balik, as part of the ongoing investigation into the thwarted coup attempt in the country.

The official had run secretariat of former Turkish Foreign Ministers Ali Babacan and Ahmet Davutoglu who later appointed Balik his adviser while in prime ministerial office in 2014-2016, the Hürriyet reports.

He is suspected of having links with Gulen as he concealed from then-president Abdullah Gul a meeting that took place between Ahmet Davutogluand Gulen in the US during a UN meeting in September 2013.
