Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Zhang Ming, who was on a visit to Saudi Arabia and Iran on January 6-10 to discuss the situation in the region and the increasing tension between Tehran and Riyadh, has urged Saudi Arabia and Iran to maintain calm and show restraint after the deterioration of relations between Riyadh and Tehran, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Hong Lei, said.
"During the meeting with the representatives of Saudi Arabia, Zhang Ming expressed hope that the parties will show restraint and step up dialogue to ease the tensions," RIA Novosti cited him saying.
