Direct flights may link Russia and Thailand in autumn

Direct flights to Thailand may become available to Russian tourists in autumn, ATOR reports.

According to Titiporn Manenate, Executive director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), work is currently underway to solve three problems: the lack of direct flights, the inability to use Mir cards, and the need to issue a Thailand Pass.

“We plan that the planes will fly in the fall of 2022”, she said during a business meeting as part of the TTM+ 2022 tourism exhibition.

At first, flights will be organized from Vladivostok on Air Asia aircrafts, then from Moscow on Thai Airways.

The Central Bank of the country is trying to resolve the issue with the possibility to pay expenses with cards of the Russian payment system "Mir" in Thailand. Thailand Pass has become much easier to issue since June 1, the Executive director of TAT noted. In addition to this, the Thailand Pass system could be canceled in a couple of months, she added.
