Dmitry Shugayev: Russia sees prospects for military-technical cooperation with Azerbaijan

Russian-Azerbaijani military-technical cooperation will continue on a systematic basis, head of Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation Dmitry Shugayev said today at the 4th Azerbaijan International Defense Exhibition (ADEX-2022) in Baku.

Rosoboronexport brought modern Russian weapons intended for sale to Russia's allies and partners to the Baku exhibition.

"It's our fourth time at this exhibition since its foundation. The Russian exposition at ADEX has always been quite extensive, especially since the systematic nature of military-technical cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan. We have many joint initiatives and a long history of military-technical cooperation," Dmitry Shugaev emphasized in the first place.

He announced Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's attention to the Rosoboronexport exposition. "Today our booth was visited by the President of Azerbaijan accompanied by a large team of military representatives from the Ministry of Defense. We reported to him on the state of our military-technical cooperation, we emphasized our readiness to develop cooperation, including within the framework of the provisions set forth in the Declaration on allied cooperation, signed in February 2022," Sputnik-Azerbaijan cited Shugaev as saying.

Dmitry Shugaev emphasized the traditional nature of military-technical cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan. "Azerbaijan traditionally uses Russian weapons and military equipment. It requires both repair and restoration, so we have a lot of areas for cooperation. And despite the difficult times we also see prospects. However, given the relationship that has evolved over the years, of course, we will continue this cooperation," the head of Russia's Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation concluded.
