German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble stated today that the German government doubts the necessity of Turkey's accession to the European Union.
"The discussion will take a lot of time, right now there is no need to worry about it," RIA Novosti quotes him as saying.
Turkey applied for EU membership in 1987, negotiations began only 18 years later.
