Drug intoxication becomes punishable in Kazakhstan

The Prosecutor's Office of Kazakhstan proposes introducing administrative responsibility for appearing in a state of narcotic intoxication in public places.

At the moment the law enforcement bodies cannot bring to justice those who appear in a public place in a state of narcotic intoxication, as the Code of Administrative Offences provides administrative responsibility for appearing in a public place only in a state of alcoholic intoxication, Interfax cites the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.
