Today's individual finals medalists in individual exercises of rhythmic gymnastics at the First European Games Durunda Marina (Azerbaijan), Melitina Stanyuta (Belarus) and Salome Pazhava (Georgia) shared their impressions of the event with Vestnik Kavkaza.
Thus, due to unfair judging in respect of Azerbaijani gymnast Marina Durunda, the fans booed the referees. The athlete noted that she is happy to make the whole of Azerbaijan glad with her performances and victory. She meant the silver medal in the exercise with a ribbon.
"Of course, the most responsible was the last performance with a ribbon, as I performed the very last, and closed the First European Games competitions in rhythmic gymnastics. In fact, it was the most important moment. But I tried to do my best. I did not think that I could receive a medal. It doesn't always depend on sport in our discipline. When I finished, I was just happy that my performance was over. And only then, when sitting with my coach, did I realize that I had won a medal,’’ Marina Durunda said.
The Azerbaijani gymnast devoted her silver medal to Azerbaijan. "Thank you for your support! It was very nice to represent our country in competitions at the highest level. And I thank very much the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation's head coach Mariana Vasileva and the other coaches who helped me to prepare for the event. Thank you all very much!" the athlete concluded.
