The EU's work on new potential sanctions against Russia is progressing "very well," EU Foreign Service spokesman Peter Stano said, RIA Novosti reports.
“Work is ongoing and very well advanced to prepare containment measures and a strong international response with huge consequences for Russia in the event of any further aggression against Ukraine,” he said.
If necessary, the EU will act quickly, Stano stressed.
"Without going into details and without commenting on various rumours, such a response could take the form of a major expansion of existing sanctions regimes, as well as additional individual and sectoral measures," the EU representative added.
