Earthquake hits Balikesir in western Turkey

A magnitude 4,0 earthquake hit the Turkish province of Balikesir, Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said.

The epicenter of the tremors was in the Sındırgı district of Balikesir.

The earthquake struck at 04:32 a.m. local time and was felt in many parts of the country, including Istanbul.

There was no report of loss of life or damage to property due to these tremors.
