Azerbaijan and Russia are actively searching for solutions to those world problems relevant for all of humanity, the PhD, head of the expert council of Baku Network, Elkhan Alasgarov, said, speaking with the correspondent of Vestnik Kavkaza on the sidelines of the 5th Global Forum in Baku.
"The 5th Global Forum in Baku is devoted to topical issues of international politics and the prospects for the development of the global situation. Recently I participated in a conference on the future of the Middle East held by the Valdai Club in Moscow, and now I am at the Baku forum. Such events show that our countries are trying to find solutions to the world's most important problems, primarily, the problems of terrorism, economic and social crises, as well as conflicts," he noted.
In this regard, the Global Forum in Baku is of international significance. "Our tendencies were outlined in the opening speech of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, first of all, the fact that the republic has found its place in the world. Azerbaijan is the author and participant of a number of geopolitical and geo-economic projects. Azerbaijan knows what to do and finds mutual understanding with its closest neighbors. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which is still not solved, is a burden that slows down the development of our republic, but despite this, Azerbaijan offers ways of peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and attraction of Armenia to its geo-economic projects. This topic was discussed today," Elkhan Alasgarov said.
"Another issue expressed by the Azerbaijani side was the dissatisfaction with the activities of international organizations, in particular the UN, which recently has actively participated in solving some problems, but does not seek to solve the others. This is a manifestation of double standards. Of course, we also discussed the development of the Middle East situation and opportunities for economic, social and political cooperation with China," the head of the expert council of Baku Network added.
Elkhan Alasgarov drew attention to the representativeness of the forum. "For example, the topic of today's meeting was the problems of Europe, it was addressed by seven former leaders of a number of European countries. If we take into account the participation of a large group of acting leaders of European countries, the forum, of course, turned out to be representative. It has a huge intellectual potential," he concluded.
