Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov held talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in China.
China’s Foreign Minister said that Beijing attaches great importance to the development of transportation corridors and is ready to expand the cooperation with Azerbaijan in this and other spheres.
Mammadyarov said Azerbaijan supports the Silk Road Economic Belt project initiated by China, adding that Azerbaijan is an important part of the East-West and North-South transportation corridors.
He also noted that Azerbaijan’s transit opportunities will expand after the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is commissioned.
According to Mammadyarov, Azerbaijan and China support the territorial integrity, sovereignty and internationally recognized borders of each other.
The head of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry briefed Wang Yi about the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict and stressed that this conflict is the main threat to peace and stability in the region, Trend reports.
