Georgian Military Road and checkpoint "Verkhny Lars", located on the border between Russia and Georgia, will continue to work in a special regime during this weekend, and there are no plans to return to normal regime yet, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry department for North Ossetia warned Vestnik Kavkaza today.
"Georgian Military Road continues to operate in a special regime, just like it did for a long time, from 4:30 to 18:00," the department reported.
According to rescuers, in the near future, the weather situation on the Georgian Military Highway won't bring new cataclysms that may lead to another blocking of transport links between Russia and Georgia. However, the press service did not comment on the progress of repair works, carried out on the Georgian side of the road.
At the same time, North Ossetian Ministry of Emergency Situations warned that so far it is impossible to determine exactly when the Georgian Military Road will start to operate at full capacity. "There is only preliminary information, no official reports on this issue yet. Right now no one can really say when traffic will be fully restored," the press service conclided.
It should be noted that according to unofficial data the road will begin to work without breaks in a week.
