The Turkish authorities attach special importance to strengthening the defense power. This was stated by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who addressed the participants in the military exercises Mavi Vatan 2022 ("Blue Motherland").
He stressed that for Turkey, whose shores are washed by many seas, the presence of a powerful navy is an urgent requirement of national security, and not a matter of choice.
"We will continue the course of turning Turkey into the strongest maritime power in the region and the world as a whole", the Anadolu agency quoted the head of state.
Erdoğan also noted that the Turkish soldiers are not only the homeland's defenders, but also important participants in international operations, conductors of humanitarian missions.
