Turkish security forces warned G20 host Germany about a possible plan to assassinate President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the summit, media reported.
An official note was sent to the German criminal police BKA on the eve of the July 7-8 summit in Hamburg, according to information obtained by the Welt newspaper.
A former Turkish law enforcer was reportedly linked to a plot by several people dressed in German police uniforms to attack the president. A BKA spokesperson confirmed they had been notified but said the threat was assessed as unlikely.
