Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in an interview with CNN, in response to a question on what would happen if a Turkish fighter jet were to stray into Syrian territory, that Ankara does not want "any escalation in the region."
"We do not want to become a party to that. But those who side with Syria and escalate the tension are responsible to this," the Turkish leader stressed.
"Of course, it will be an aggression against our rights of sovereignty and it is a natural right to protect those rights," he added.
